O’Mara Endorsed By Unshackle Upstate

October 6, 2020

From Senator O’Mara:

The prominent pro-jobs, pro-taxpayers advocacy organization “Unshackle Upstate” has endorsed the re-election of State Senator Tom O’Mara (R,C,I-Big Flats) in New York’s 58th Senate District – one of only 11 incumbent State Senate endorsements the group is issuing in 2020.

Unshackle Upstate Chairman Brian Sampson said, “Now, more than ever, we need to elect legislators who will ease the burdens of taxpayers and employers. We strongly believe that these legislative candidates will do just that. These outstanding men and women know that our taxes are too high and our business climate is too harsh. As we outlined in our recent Fast Forward agenda, it’s essential for our elected leaders to get our economy back on track as quickly as possible. Our organization and these candidates share two important goals: strengthening the Upstate economy and saving our Upstate communities.”

O’Mara said, “I am proud to have earned Unshackle Upstate’s ongoing confidence and support in my steadfast commitment to the goals we share for the Southern Tier, Finger Lakes and all of Upstate New York. Most importantly, I look forward to continue working together to keep state government’s attention focused on efforts to turn around the Upstate economy, create jobs, cut taxes, enact meaningful mandate relief and regulatory reform, revitalize manufacturing, and strengthen our communities. I’m grateful to have Unshackle Upstate’s recognition of my genuine pro-jobs, pro-manufacturing, pro-economic growth, anti-tax, anti-regulation, anti-mandate commitment. Moving forward in the aftermath of COVID-19 to rebuild our communities and find solid economic ground again, this commitment will be more important than ever and we can’t risk a state government that ignores Upstate.”

In addition to its Senate endorsements, Unshackle Upstate has also endorsed the following local incumbent Assembly members: Assemblywoman Marjorie Byrnes, Assemblyman Chris Friend, Assemblymen Joe Giglio, and Assemblyman Phil Palmesano.

O’Mara has sponsored and strongly supported Senate legislation and other new laws and initiatives over the past several years aimed at turning around Upstate private-sector job growth through lower taxes, regulatory and other fiscal reforms, mandate relief and a renewed commitment to the manufacturing and small business sectors.
