HORNELL, NY- Mayor Shawn Hogan presided over the board of public safety meeting this morning where the discussion centered around the building that once housed the Rainbow Heaven Restaurant.
Insurance investigators have been unable to pin down an exact cause of the fire that destroyed the building in the early morning hours of December 9th, 2014. Mayor Hogan has been waiting for the investigation to be completed so that he can have a contractor with asbestos removal certification to tear down and remove the rubble and remains of the building because at this time the building is classified as a hazard.
In a move to speed things along, Hornell City Hall Attorney Joe Pelych is going to file a motion asking the judge to order the building torn down.
