Sheriff Allard Releases Name of The Driver From Fatal Accident

BATH, NY – Dustin Drake, 30, Prattsburgh, has been charged with speeding last Saturday night. Steuben County Sheriff Jim Allard says that Dustin Drake was the driver in that Saturday night accident, in which four people were killed when the car drake was driving, hit a tree.

Steuben County Sheriff Jim Allard reports that on October 12, 2019, deputies responded to a report of a one vehicle crash on County Route 76 in the Town of Pulteney New York. The subsequent investigation revealed that at about 1:15am, a vehicle containing five occupants was travelling north on County Route 76. The vehicle left the roadway, striking a tree. As a result of this crash, four people died and a fifth was flown to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment and later released.
The investigation is progressing and the following information has been confirmed:
The operator of the vehicle, based on physical evidence processed in the investigation, is determined to be Dustin W. Drake, age 30, of Prattsburgh New York.
Causation factors thus far determined and substantiated by physical evidence contributing to the crash and subsequent deaths:
Excessive Speed
Lack of occupant restraint
The investigation continues as to other factors, a full press conference will be held on Monday, October 21st, 2019 at 10am at the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office, Public Safety Building.
District Attorney Brooks Baker and Sheriff Allard will be in attendance.
