Steuben Co Sheriff Jim Allard: Both Keuka and Waneta Lakes Have Higher Than Normal Water Levels

June 7, 2025

FROM STEUBEN COUNTY SHERIFF JIM ALLARD: Safe Boating Advisement. Due to the recent storms containing heavy and concentrated rains, both Keuka and Waneta Lakes are at a higher than normal level and have considerable washed down debris floating in them. Keuka Lake near the southern end is especially congested with floating and hidden debris. All boaters on our navigable waterways this weekend should take special care to be cognizant of these obstructions and travel slow and safe while boating on our waterways.

Remember, safe boating is every boater’s concern.
