Steuben County Emergency Services Director Tim Marshall: The Two Reasons, Trees Keep Falling

July 19, 2025

There have been a lot of downed trees this week across Steuben County. Steuben County Emergency Services Director Tim Marshall says, that’s for two reasons: the heavy rains from this past Wednesday night during the flash flood warning, and invasive species. “It’s also the situation of there being a lot of tree debris,” Marshall explained. “Invasive species have affected some of the different types of trees. Such as: the Ash Borer attacking the Ash trees, there’s also another invasive species that has been affecting the Hemlock and Hickory trees,” Marshall said on Friday.
