Shick Family Golf Fundraiser Brings In Over $10,000

August 9, 2023

From St James Hospital:
Family, friends, and sponsors gathered at the Hornell Golf Club to play in the ninth annual Shick Family Charity Golf Classic on Friday, June 30th. The charity event raised $11,070 for the St. James Foundation. All proceeds will be designated to support
St. James Hospital services and programs. “We are incredibly thankful to have St. James Hospital in our community. It is important to us
that our fundraising efforts make a difference locally,” said Abbie and Becky Shick. “Participation of the St. James Hospital leadership team and staff members during our event confirms that our efforts are worthwhile.”

The 2023 golf classic marks two years since the passing of Anita Shick, the family’s matriarch, who proudly led the family after the passing of her husband, William D. Shick in 1974. “We are so grateful for the Shick family’s generosity. The funds raised over the past seven years have helped advance St. James Hospital services and patient care,” said Wendy Disbrow, St. James Hospital President and CEO. “Thank you to Abbie and Becky Shick for organizing yet another successful event. And thank you to the Shick family for coordinating all aspects of the event from registration, scoring, gift bag assembly, sponsorship solicitations, and more.”

The Shick Family Charity Golf Classic was founded in 2014 to support the community and honor Anita Shick. In 2016 the family decided to dedicate all event proceeds to the St. James Foundation. Over the past seven years, $60,900 has been raised by the event and donated to
the St. James Foundation. “We look forward to continued fundraising success in the future, honoring the memories of
William and Anita Shick,” stated Abbie and Becky Shick.
