The Odor Problem In North Hornell Is Lessening

April 22, 2025

At the Monday night Hornell Common Council meeting, Rich Dunning, Chief Operator of the Hornell Water Pollution Control Plant, spoke about how things are getting better, as far as the sewer odor in North Hornell goes.  “We’re getting there,” Dunning said last night.  “We’ve been treating the sewer with Total Ox, to reduce the odors, and we’ve got the hydrogen sulfide readings down to single digits through zero.  Also, HP Hood is going to start a new dosage of hydrogen peroxide on Tuesday (today) and we hope to see the same kind of results from that treatment, going forward,” Dunning said.
