The Steuben County’s Landfill’s Natural Gas Project With WAGA

April 4, 2024

BATH, NY – The Steuben County Landfill is pulling in some extra money, thanks to a French owned energy company called WAGA. WAGA delivers renewable natural gas from the landfill to the Corning Natural Gas System. “Per the agreement, WAGA will make a fixed annual payment of $75,000 for the Wellfield improvements, which will offset the annual operation maintenance expense,” said Steuben County Public Works Commissioner Eric Rose yesterday. “So the goal is to optimize the landfill natural gas. We have been sending landfill natural gas to WAGA for the past two weeks. We’re fully at 100% injections, so we should see some turnaround on this,” Rose said.
