WAYLAND, NY – Remember that terrible fire which consumed several buildings in downtown Wayland in Febuary 2022? The latest on that is that Steuben County Industrial Development Agency Director Jamie Johnson has been working with Wayland village officials to get state money out of the New York State, Restore New York Program. “Restore NY, that’s a grant program that the state resurrected a couple of years ago,” said Johnson. “It’s a great program. It provides communities an opportunity to go out and apply for up to $2,000,000 in funding for specific projects in their community. When we talk about specific projects, its’s usually a building or a renovation or a demolition, and it’s a single project. And as you know, we’ve been working with the Village of Wayland officials to repair and redevelop the buildings that were damaged two years ago,” said Johnson.
