Thursday Night’s School Merger Meeting

Another School Merger Meeting

CANASERAGA N.Y.- Arkport/Alfred-Almond/Canaseraga residents and school officials met in the village of Canaseraga Thursday night for what was the official beginning of the merger process for the three school districts. The introduction of the 21 person Advisory committee was the first item on the agenda. Consultant Alan Pole explained that the committee was made up of a mix of School employees, and residents from all three school districts in the proposed merger.

The meeting which was the first of a series of seven meetings that will cover everything from Enrollment, Facilities, curriculum, Financing, Staffing, and transportation. The final meeting will come on March 5, 2015 at which time a vote will be held by the three district school boards top determine weather or not, they want to continue on and put the issue to vote by the public in an election.

The next meeting will be held in Arkport in the rotating format, to discuss the issue of Instructional / extra curricular programs between the three schools on June 5, 2014 at 6:00 p.m.
