FROM NYSP: The New York State Police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on July 6, 2025, on Parker Road in the town of Campbell, Steuben County. Troopers and Investigators from SP Painted Post responded to a report of a male who had sustained a gunshot wound following a disturbance between neighbors.
The injured party, later identified as William C. Tong, age 53, of Campbell, NY, was transported to Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA, where he died during surgery on July 7, 2025.
The other involved party, Devan J. Hall, age 41, of Campbell, NY, remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. The circumstances leading up to the shooting remain under review. At this time, no charges have been filed and the investigation is ongoing.
