Tyler S. O’Dell, of Greenwood

GREENWOOD: Tyler S. O’Dell, 27, of County Route 60, Christian Hollow Road, passed away unexpectedly Sept. 13, in McMechen, W.V.

Tyler was born June 25, 1991 in Hornell to Rick and Julie (Updyke) O’Dell. He had been employed as a laborer working on gas pipelines for the Otis Eastern Gas, Co. in Wellsville, N.Y.

Tyler attended Jasper-Troupsburg Central School where he actively played soccer and baseball. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing with his family and friends and was a big fan of the Green Bay Packers, N.Y. Yankees and the Pittsburgh Pirates. Tyler had an infectious smile that brought warmth and happiness to those who knew him and though his presents will be missed, he will- forever be in the hearts of those who knew
and loved him.

Tyler is survived by two sons: Braxton and Grayson O’Dell and their mother Kristen Pierce all of Canisteo, his mother Julie Updyke-Hulsey of Greenwood, a brother Cody O’Dell (Alisha Wheater) of Harrison Valley, Pa., nephew Everett O’Dell and niece Alanis O’Dell, step-father Steve Hulsey of Phoenix, AZ. maternal grandparents Jerry and Joanne Updyke of Greenwood, as well as aunts, uncles and several cousins.

Tyler was predeceased by his father Rick O’Dell, a sister Tiara O’Dell, his paternal grandparents Wilbur and Hazel O’Dell.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 pm Friday and 2-3 pm Saturday at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home, 29 East Main St. Canisteo, where a memorial service will take place immediately following calling hours Saturday at 3:00 pm. Burial and committal services will be in Jasper Cemetery.

A special fund has been established for Tyler’s sons Braxton and Grayson. Those wishing may make checks/donations to: The O’Dell Trust, c/o Citizens and Northern Bank, 6250 County Route 64, Hornell, N.Y. 14843.
