Village of Arkport to Save Money on Gas and Electric

May 17, 2016

Arkport, NY – The village of Arkport will see substantial decreases in their electric and gas bills in the coming years. A broker hired by the village has managed to get the gas bill through Chautauqua Energy lowered from $1.10 to $.55 per ETH. The new cost will take effect immediately and run through December 2017.
Also the board elected to get a fixed electricity rate for 36 months at a savings of $2,200 per year.

In other village news the board said that they will have to sit down and renegotiate the town of Hornellsvilles rent for a upcoming 5 year lease to use the Village Hall as a Justice Chamber. The current contract calls for a $100 per year increase and many board members were in agreement that this figure is quite low considering the time and space used.

A resolution was passed to let the Arkport Central School use the village fuel island for another 5 years.

And finally it was announced that a utility shed has now been completed at the Arkport cemetery. Groundskeeper Tom Hunt said that this will save the village considerable money over the years by not having to transport the maintenance equipment back and forth.
