Wlea News contacted Canisteo Village Hall this morning, to find out how the village is after the Tuesday night rain. “It was nothing worse than the night before,” said Katrina Olivero. “We do have some issues at the waste water treatment plant, but other than that, we’re okay,” said the village clerk. As for Canisteo-Greenwood’s school buildings in Canisteo, according to CG School Superintendent Tom Crook, all seems to be fine this morning. “We are good,” the superintendent said. “We had to reroute some buses this morning with County Route 14 being closed, but we managed.” (County Route 14 is in both the Town of Canisteo and the Town of Howard, etc.)
Also, the Greenwood School building, which is currently being used by students from Jasper-Troupsburg, because of the August 2024 flooding, the Greenwood School was not damaged, according to CG Superintendent Crook.
As for Jasper, we have been emailing back and forth with Jasper-Troupsburg School Superintendent Jason Oliver. “We are growing tired of the rain, but all is well down here in JT. To our relief, the district was not impacted by the recent flooding;.” Oliver said this morning.
