Wet Weather Hampering DPW Projects

April 20, 2017

HORNELL, NY – The Dept. of Public Works met Thursday morning and DPW head Mitch Cornish informed the committee that wet weather is hindering the progress of certain projects. At the new snow equipment removal building wet weather has caused a slight delay in pouring the concrete slab but the steel has been erected and in place keeping things on schedule.

Also the nearly 3 inches of rain we have had in the past week has put a damper on the Shawmut Bike Trail project. Both projects are still on schedule to be completed by the end of June.

The selection committee has chosen Labella Associates to handle work on the bridge repair and replacement in the city. They include the Seneca Street and Chauncey Run bridges.

The city’s hot mix plant is scheduled to be up and running by the April 24th barring any bad weather and road patching and repairs should start soon after. The street sweeper will be in action starting May 1st running nights throughout the summer.

Finally the city released the rules for all parks in the city for the summer and the Mayor along with all commissioners encourages everyone to read them if they plan on using the parks. The rules are posted below in full.
