HORNELL,NY – On Monday morning in the 3am hour, a fire was called in from Rainbow Heaven Restaurant on Seneca Street. This morning during the Hornell Public Safety Meeting, Fire Chief Dan Smith explained that the reason that the fire continued into the afternoon on Monday, was because the roof collapsed. “It collapsed while the contents that were burning, were covered by roofing, so it was hard for us to penetrate that roofing in different areas. So underneath there were boards we could not get to, that were just smoldering,” Smith said. “We let that burn for a while, to maybe penetrate a little bit more.”
The fire chief also reported that the fire at Rainbow Heaven is still under investigation.
