CANISTEO, NY – At the Tuesday evening Canisteo Village Hall meeting, the village board approved the Canisteo Village Volunteer Fire Department’s request to be able to get going with a Junior Firefighter program. Officials say that the minimum age to join is 14 years old and the junior firefighter program ends for those who turn 18, when they can join as a regular firefighter with the Canisteo Fire Dept.
Officials also say that the new Canisteo Jr Firefighter program will not increase insurance costs, as they say the Canisteo Fire Department’s insurance already covers this.
