Do you know anyone in Buffalo, maybe someone who you send mail to? Democrat U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand is opposed to closing down the Buffalo Post Office and having the Rochester Post Office handle Buffalo’s mail instead. “I think it’s a mistake,” Gillibrand said this morning during a media zoom call. “It’s going to harm people’s ability to get their mail on time. We sent a letter yesterday, to the PostMaster General, urging him to stop the closing of the Buffalo Postal Processing Center.” Republican Congressman Nick Langworthy agrees with the senator on this. “I recently met with US Post Office officials,” Langworthy said. “I wanted to make his position clear: I am strongly opposed to the proposal to move the Buffalo Mail Processing Facility to Rochester if it means jobs are lost in Western New York.”
Rep. Nick Langworthy (R, NY23) issued the following statement in reaction to Colorado’s Supreme Court Decision to block President Trump from appearing on the state’s ballot: “The unprecedented Colorado Supreme Court decision is pure partisan election interference. The abuse of our justice system to obstruct President Trump’s widely-supported re-election campaign is a blatant assault on the very foundations of our democracy, disenfranchising millions of voters in the process. This outrageous ruling cannot be allowed to stand, and we will not be silent.”
Congressman Nick Langworthy (NY-23) announced a U.S. Department of Education grant for the Research Foundation of State University of New York (SUNY) at Alfred in the amount of $2,040,230. This grant is part of the federal Rural Postsecondary and Economic Development Program.
“The Research Foundation at SUNY Alfred does great work to advance life-changing research and build our skilled workforce in a number of fields from medicine to artificial intelligence technology,” said Rep. Langworthy. “This investment will allow the Research Foundation to open new doors for local students and drive innovation in our community. I’m proud to support their efforts and look forward to our continued partnership to pursue new educational opportunities and economic development in our region.”
According to the Department of Education, the purpose of the Rural Postsecondary & Economic Development Grant Program is to improve rates of postsecondary enrollment, persistence, and completion among rural students through development of high-quality career pathways aligned to high-skill, high-wage, and in-demand industry sectors and occupations in the region.
Republican Congressman Nick Langworthy was interviewed by Brian O’Neil this morning on Newsmaker, and the two spoke, among other things, about veterans issues. “I want to tell any veterans out there that we are here to help,” Langworthy said. “If you need help with your veterans benefits, if you’re trying to sort out a matter, we have case workers ready, willing and able to assist. We have offices in Corning, Olean, Jamestown and Clarence, and we have a professional staff ready to help you with your issues, medicare, social security, no problem is too big and no problem is too small.”
WLEA caught up with Congressman Nick Langworthy when he was at the National Mall for the Rally For Israel. “I was so grateful to be a part of the Rally,” Langworthy told Wlea News. “There were massive crowds from all over the world. I met many Jewish people who came here from Europe, it was a massive turnout. It was a great celebration of the State of Israel and strong American support for the State of Israel. It was a great show of unity and important step for us right now, when there is so much coverage of protests supporting Hamas and people calling for a ceasefire. We have to stand strong with Israel. My entire career I have stood strong with Israel and that will never change.”
The following is a statement Congressman Nick Langworthy made this morning, before the private GOP House vote which took place this afternoon: “The time is come for the Republican Conference to unite and support Jim Jordan to be the next Speaker of the House,” said Rep. Langworthy. “Jim has a plan to take us forward in a narrow majority in divided government. He has a proven track record of conservative leadership that makes him uniquely qualified to bring us together with a stronger resolve. I will be enthusiastically voting for Jim Jordan for a second time this week. It’s time to bring this vote to the House floor so we can get back to the business of the American people, secure our border, aid Israel and make real fiscal change.”
The vote on this by the full House of Representatives, is expected to be Monday night, October 16, at 6:00pm.

From Rep. Nick Langworthy: “The House of Representatives saw the deeply dishonorable actions of eight disgruntled members who have chosen to align with the Democrats and President Joe Biden to vacate our Conference’s Speaker. While this is a disgrace to our institution, we will not be silenced. Our work is far from over, and our commitment to the principles and responsibilities that we were elected to uphold as the majority remains steadfast. We will reorganize swiftly and resolutely to continue the crucial work that lies ahead.”
From Congresswoman Claudia Tenney:“Sadly, a small group of Republicans teamed up with the Democrats to plunge our conference into a leadership race and sideline our effort to pass conservative appropriations bills.
“Instead of working together to pass spending cuts, gain operational control of our borders, rein in Biden’s bloated bureaucracy, and hold the corrupt Biden family accountable through oversight functions, Republicans will remain divided amid important negotiations with Biden and Schumer. Speaker McCarthy’s magnanimous and courageous decision to step aside gives Republicans one last chance to unify, come together, elect a speaker, and deliver conservative wins for the American people.”
Langworthy Statement on the House Oversight Committee’s Initial Hearing on the Biden Impeachment Inquiry
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Nick Langworthy (NY-23), a member of the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability, released a statement following today’s hearing.
“It’s clear that President Biden repeatedly lied to the American people regarding his involvement in his family’s business dealings and foreign influence-peddling schemes,” said Rep. Langworthy. “Today’s hearing laid out the overwhelming amount of evidence that warrants further investigation to determine if President Joe Biden abused his public office for his family’s financial gain. We heard directly from legal and financial experts who confirmed our impeachment inquiry is on the right track. Congress has a constitutional duty to conduct oversight over the executive branch, and we will continue to demand answers on behalf of the American people.”

Key Background
• On September 12, 2023, Speaker Kevin McCarthy launched an impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden, tasking the House Committees on Oversight and Accountability, Judiciary, and Ways and Means to continue to gather evidence and follow the money to determine the extent of President Biden’s abuse of public office.
• The House Oversight Committee identified at least 16 instances in which President Biden lied about his involvement in his family’s foreign business dealings.
• One witness, Jonathan Turley, Shapiro Professor of Public Interest Law at the George Washington University Law School, stated during the hearing, “I do believe that, after months of investigation, the House has passed the threshold for an inquiry into whether President Joe Biden was directly involved or benefited from the corrupt practices of his son, Hunter, and others.” He later stated, “This idea that you can have millions going to a politician’s family and that’s not benefit, I think, is pretty fallacious.”

Langworthy. “This investment will provide new opportunities for growth, job creation, and sustainable development, securing the financial future of our region. I look forward to my continued partnership with the Southern Tier Central Regional Planning & Development Board to make our community a better place to work and live.”

ALBANY, NY – Because of a Cuomo era law about reducing greenhouse gas by 40 percent by 2030, the state is mandating a change to all electric school buses by 2027. NYSERDA, the New York State Energy Research Development Agency says that the state is putting $500 million dollars towards this happening at schools across the state by that time. This means, among other things, that there’ll have to be more electric bus charging locations along school bus routes. NYSERDA officials say, they’re going to make poorer school districts, what they’ll call “Priority Districts.” NYSERDA says, the state is driven by a commitment to reducing greenhouse gases.
Republican State lawmakers maintain, electric school buses are impractical and too expensive. Also, in Washington DC, Congressman Nick Langworthy says the House GOP are working in hopes of passing a long so that New York (and other states) will not be able to have a ban on gasoline powered vehicles.
BATH, NY – Congressman Nick Langworthy visited the Steuben County Fair Tuesday afternoon. “I”m so happy to be here at the Steuben County Fair,” Langworthy told Wlea News. “We’re celebrating our rich agricultural tradition, and it’s wonderful to be here with so many of the 4H families, and seeing these young people who have been raising these animals and showing these projects. These young people are really the best and brightest in our community.”
In the final photo, Sheriff Jim Allard and Congressman Langworthy joke around with the Steuben County Fair’s Robot.
